Isogloss map for final -z elision, in Iberian Peninsula Spanish, according to ALPI .

The tendency to elide the postvowel z's is related to the s's aspiration. We can see that in some areas (zone D) where /s/ and /z/ are distinguished before vowel, final -z is pronounced [s]. However, the limits for this map are somewhat different from the s's aspiration map. It remains to be checked how the -z- is pronounced when it is postvowel but not final.
